JCUMC: An Active Scout Program

JCUMC provides one of the largest, most active and most supportive Scouting programs anywhere. We have grown from 3 units in early 1998 with 180 youth to 8 units and 460 youth in May 2011. This growth is due to many factors including a large number of dedicated volunteer leaders who believe in the values of Boy Scouts, great support by the church, a very interested youth population and great programs run by the local packs, troops and crew.

By the Numbers

  • # Units: 8
  • # Youth: 460 (as of May 1, 2011)
  • # Registered Leaders: 210
  • # Annual Meetings: 450 (Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Other units, District, Service Area)

An Enlarged Scout Ministry

Not only does JCUMC support its own units, it supports Scouting outside the church. For example, we host most many Milton District BSA training events, District merit badge clinics, Scout Expo and provide space for other BSA units to have their pinewood derbies, court of honors, leader meetings and other activities. We also provide meeting space for many Girl Scout troop, leader and training meetings. We feel there is huge potential to help grow the Girl Scout program in the area with expanded support and facilities furthering the mission of the church.
